Effective May 16, 2026 Last updated May 16, 2026

OLAMI Herzliya (“OLAMI”, “we”, “us”) operates the OLAMI Herzliya mobile app (the “App”) for our student and alumni community. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the App, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.

If you have questions, contact us at olamiherzliya@gmail.com.

1. Who we are

OLAMI Herzliya is a Jewish educational and community organization based in Herzliya, Israel. The App lets community members RSVP to events, join programs, see announcements, chat with staff, and receive timely updates from the organization.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the App and serve the community.

a. Information you give us

  • Account info: first name, last name, email address, and a password (if you sign in with email). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique sign-in identifier from those providers and the name and email address they share with us.
  • Profile info: information you optionally add to your profile, such as phone number, gap year, hometown, dietary preferences, and a profile photo.
  • Event participation: RSVPs, custom answers to event questions (for example dietary or guest details), photos you choose to share from an event, and check-in status.
  • Messages and content: messages you send in program or staff chats, poll responses, and announcements you react to.
  • Support requests: anything you send us when you contact support.

b. Information collected automatically

  • Device identifier for notifications: a push-notification token issued by Apple (APNs) through our service provider Expo, which we use to deliver push notifications to your device.
  • Approximate device info: device model, operating-system version, and app version. We use this to make sure the App works correctly on your device and to debug issues.
  • Location (only while using the App, only during an active event): if you choose to allow it, we use your location to automatically mark you as attended when you arrive at an event venue. Location is read only during the event’s active time window and only while the App is open. We do not track your location in the background, and we do not keep a location history. The location coordinates we receive are linked to your attendance record for that specific event.
  • Usage info: which features you use inside the App (for example, which event you opened or whether you tapped a notification). We use this to improve the App.

c. We do not collect

  • Contacts from your address book.
  • Calendar entries.
  • Health, fitness, or financial data.
  • Background location.
  • Browsing history outside the App.
  • Information for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Show you events, programs, and announcements relevant to you.
  • Process your RSVPs and check-ins.
  • Send you push notifications about events you have RSVPed to, new opportunities, chat messages, and important community announcements.
  • Communicate with you about your account or your participation.
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the App.
  • Protect the safety and security of our community and the App.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

4. Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for advertising purposes. We share information only as follows:

  • Other community members and staff: your name, profile photo, RSVPs (including “who’s going” indicators), and content you post in chats or polls are visible to other members of the relevant community, group, or event. Staff and administrators have access to your account info, profile, RSVPs, and attendance records to run the organization.
  • Service providers that help us run the App:
    • Apple Inc. — delivery of push notifications through APNs; “Sign in with Apple” if you use it.
    • Google LLC — “Sign in with Google” if you use it.
    • Expo (650 Industries, Inc.) — push-notification relay and over-the-air JavaScript updates for the App.
    • Our web hosting and WordPress infrastructure — to operate the backend that powers the App.
Each of these processes data on our behalf and under appropriate contractual safeguards.
  • Legal compliance: we may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of OLAMI, our community, or others.

5. How long we keep your data

We keep your account and the data linked to it for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (see Section 8), we delete your profile, RSVPs, messages, and other personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to keep certain records (for example, financial records associated with a paid event).

Anonymous, aggregated information (such as overall attendance counts) may be retained.

6. Security

We protect your data with industry-standard safeguards:

  • All connections between the App and our servers use HTTPS (TLS).
  • Authentication tokens are stored in the device’s secure storage (iOS Keychain).
  • Access to administrator tools is restricted to authorized staff.

No system is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

7. Children

The App is intended for users age 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your rights and choices

You can:

  • Access and update your profile at any time inside the App (Settings → Edit profile).
  • Manage notification preferences in Settings → Notifications, or in iOS Settings → OLAMI → Notifications.
  • Manage location permission in iOS Settings → OLAMI → Location.
  • Delete your account from Settings → Delete my account, or by emailing support@olamiherzliya.org. We will delete your data within 30 days as described in Section 5.
  • Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you by emailing support@olamiherzliya.org.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the Israeli Protection of Privacy Law (for example, to correct, restrict, or object to certain processing). To exercise any of these rights, contact us.

9. International transfers

OLAMI is based in Israel. If you access the App from outside Israel, your information will be transferred to and processed in Israel and in any country where our service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to this transfer where permitted by law.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the App or by email. Continued use of the App after the changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
